The person is part of a multicultural team which is responsible for the certification of Fairtrade customers in Africa.
- Job Share: Full-time (45 hours per week) – fixed term contract for eventually 6 months
- Location: FLOCERT QIS South Africa (Pty) Ltd., Cape Town
- Salary: The salary and benefit package depend upon qualifications and experience

Your responsibilities
- Act as Certification Analyst responsible for assigned customers
- Evaluate producers and traders for assigned products against Fairtrade Standards
- Answer requests of customers from assigned countries
- Perform evaluations of audit reports against Fairtrade Standards
- Perform Fairtrade audits of customers in assigned countries in Africa
- Send certification decision
- Communicate actively with applicants and certified customers and assist them with all necessary information
- Actively participate in the annual audit planning for assigned countries
- Instruct customers on Fairtrade requirements
- Identify special needs of Key Accounts and act as account manager
- Answer certification related questions
- Answer National Fairtrade Organisation requests
- Assist in the selection, evaluation and training of Auditors
- Assist in constant improvement of certification processes
- Assist in identifying and delivering on new sales and marketing opportunities
Your qualifications, experience and skills
- University level education (B.A. or equivalent) in a relevant subject (Food Science, Business, Agronomy, Economics, Languages etc.) or any other equivalent and related professional qualification
- At least two years of related professional work experience in an office and customer orientated environment
- Permission to work in South Africa is mandatory
- Ability to work in South Africa and travel internationally obligatory
- 1-year experience in certification systems (e.g., organic, FSC, MSC, SA8000, ISO 14001, etc.) in particular with ISO 65 accreditation or 2 years related business experience
- Fluent in English and French oral and written
- Additional fluency in Arabic or in other languages commonly spoken amongst Fairtrade certified clients in Africa (Afrikaans, Portuguese, Swahili etc.) would be an asset
- Flexible, pro-active, and hard-working work style
- Team player with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills and experience in dealing with different cultures
- Strong dedication towards customer service
- Experience with customer relations as well as in international trade would be supportive
- Technical knowledge of the Fairtrade products traded out of Africa is an advantage
